26 reasons to be in the word in 2026
26 Reasons Why You and I Need to Be in This Book Every Day in 2026
Commit to daily Bible reading in 2026 – God's Word is alive and powerful!
1.The Bible literally breathes God. 2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is God-breathed” (theopneustos). Like God breathing life into Adam (Genesis 2), His Word is His breath giving us spiritual life.
2.It is the only objective Truth in a world of opinions. John 17:17 – “Your word is truth.” Read it even if you're unsure – let the Holy Spirit convince you.
3.It is God’s selfie. General revelation (creation, Romans 1:19-20) shows there's a God; special revelation (the Bible) reveals who He is and what He's done.
4.It works in real life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – Profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, training. Research from the Center for Bible Engagement shows engaging Scripture 4+ days/week dramatically improves life: loneliness drops ~30%, anger ~32%, bitterness ~40%, alcoholism ~57%, porn viewing ~61%, spiritual stagnation ~60%; sharing faith jumps ~200-230%.
5.It’s one grand, unified story. 66 books, 40 authors, 3 languages, 3 continents, 1,500 years – all pointing to one Person: Jesus!
6.We have gospel amnesia every morning. We forget God's mercy and need daily reminders that He makes us alive in Christ (Ephesians 2).
7.It has the power to save – even me. Romans 1:16 – The gospel is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes.
8.Spiritual growth is impossible without it. Matthew 4:4 – We live by every word from God's mouth. Mature Christians are always in Scripture.
9.It sanctifies us. John 17:17 – Makes us more like Jesus when we can't change ourselves.
10.God promises it will accomplish His purposes. Isaiah 55:11 – His Word never returns empty.
11.It’s our offensive weapon against the devil. Ephesians 6:17 – The sword of the Spirit. Jesus used “It is written” against Satan.
12.Truth sets us free. John 8:31-32 – Free from lies, addiction, fear, condemnation.
13.It brings incomparable joy. Jeremiah 15:16 – His words are joy and heart's delight.
14.It reads us back. Hebrews 4:12 – Living and active, exposing our hearts. Use as a mirror (for self) or telescope (for others).
15.It’s the filter for every voice claiming to speak for God. The Holy Spirit never contradicts His inspired Word.
16.It makes deposits for future crises. Memorized verses return in trials, often from years ago.
17.It teaches us how to pray. Borrow His words when we have none.
18.It’s still alive and fresh. New insights even after many readings – it's living!
19.Blessing is promised to those who read it. Revelation 1:3 – Blessed is the one who reads...
20.It’s packed with promises. ~8,810 promises, all “Yes and Amen” in Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20).
21.It’s okay if it's hard sometimes. Even Peter said Paul's letters are hard to understand (2 Peter 3:16). Keep reading!
22.It is breathtakingly beautiful. Psalm 119 mentions its sweetness 119 times – sweeter than honey.
23.Jesus needed it – how much more do we? The sinless Son read, memorized, quoted, lived, and died by Scripture.
24.It points to Christ. John 5:39 – The Scriptures testify about Jesus; every page whispers His name.
25.It is commanded, bringing blessing and success. Joshua 1:8 – Meditate day and night for prosperity and success in God's will.
26.Because I love Jesus, and this is where I meet Him. Not in feelings or circumstances, but here in His Word – where He speaks directly to us.
Challenge for 2026: Open this Book every day. Let it change you from the inside out.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
